Outdoor Newborn Photography Session | Philadelphia, PA
/Spring and summer are fabulous times for an outdoor newborn photography session
Now that the weather has finally made a turn for the better, I’m very much looking forward to capturing newborn portraits outside like the ones from this session.
I adore beautiful and natural backgrounds that include for example trees and sky.
My ideal newborn portrait experience is to do a hybrid indoor and outdoor newborn photography session at my client's home.
During a session, I keep the baby nice and warm. Babies do not regulate their temperature as well as adults, so we must ensure baby is comfortable and warm at all times. I frequently tell my families that if we’re warm, we’re doing it right.
In the fall/winter, I ask the parents to turn up the heat in the house (if the heat is on) and in the spring/summer to turn off the AC (if the AC is on). Everything is done with baby’s comfort in mind.
I only venture outdoors when the weather is sufficiently warm for baby, and I’m excited to do more outdoor portraits now that mother nature has finally blessed us with some beautiful weather.
Outdoor newborn photography sessions also include indoor portraits
For this little one’s session, I created portraits indoors and outdoors.
I created natural-themed images even when indoors.
One of my favorite props is the teak wood bowl pictured below. I say it is one of my favorites, and it is, but boy is it heavy!
I think it looks very similar to a tree stump, and I just adore the earthy, natural feel it lends to portraits.
When we ventured outdoors with this little one, he was very asleep, warm and happy in mommy and daddy’s arms.
I was able to capture these beautiful portraits using natural light and this family’s beautiful trees as a natural backdrop.
